Overwinter

Protecting soil overwinter with cover crops. This was a good way for us to fortify the soil against strong winds and rains that blow through Montesano.

The initial harvesting of cover crop is left to dry and decompose, protecting the soil from continued frosts and winds in April.

It was not easy work. And you have to do it twice.

Every few years or so the soil needs to rest.
